*scowls* My real name means "A lily or a rose".

If there was anything I would not want my name to be associated with it would be flowers, dangit. Feh.

heh heh heh! Cute one EL!
I'm not sure but I think I remember my Mom telling me that my name (David) means 'Beloved'.

On another note I have to say that as a movie going junkie, this has been a pretty dissapointing Summer. Some movies that I expected to really blow me away,

*cough* Jurassic III, Planet of the Apes *cough*

have turned out to be sort of a let down. (Although the special FX and make up in both of those films are pretty amazing) One pleasant surprise though was an almost shockingly original little film called MEMENTO. Wont say/give away too much about it except for...
    1.) I really enjoyed it,
2.) I can almost garauntee you havent seen anything like it, and
3.) If you do see it, follow it very closely. Anyone who's already seen this unusually structured flick will know what i'm talking about!
Lead actor GUY PIERCE's performance was incredible. Even better than his turn in the excellent L.A. confidential. Oh yeah and CARRIE-ANNE MOSS (Trinity from the MATRIX) is superb as well.

If your into quirky, suspenseful, cerebral, keep-you-guessing-until-the-end type movies then I definitely recommend MEMENTO!

Wow BAMF! You didn't like Planet of the Apes? ok...I'm a bit of an ape-phile myself. I've watched all the old movies numerous times. Eveytime me and my brother see Charlton Heston in his NRA adds we yell, "Git yer stinkin' paws off me you damn dirty apes!" I had a blast watching the remake. I don't know if it's gonna be a classic like the original, but it's a good fun summer movie.

Oh and my name means "Beloved" too. How bout that?

    Loved your nugget Slarti.

I've heard that movie was good, methinks maybe I should go see it now. I mostly liked Planet of the Apes. I was impressed by ol' Marky Mark's performance and it had a high "neat" factor. I can imagine that Geriatric Park III sucked. I dinnae like the second one.

I just finished the first draft of my enormous rewrite of that long-ass story I posted months ago. Get that? Good. So, in honor of my fried literary nerves, I thought I'd share this little nugget. Enjoy.

These are the 10 winners of this year's Bulwer-Lytton contest (run by
the English Dept. of San Jose State University), wherein one writes
only the first line of a bad ?novel:

    10) "As a scientist, Throckmorton knew that if he were ever to break
wind in the echo chamber he would never hear the end of it."

??9) "Just beyond the Narrows the river widens."

??8) "With a ?curvaceous figure that Venus would have envied, a tanned,
unblemished oval face framed with lustrous thick brown hair, deep
azure-blue eyes fringed with long black lashes, perfect teeth that vied
for competition, and a small ?straight nose, Marilee had a beauty that
    defied description."

??7) ?"Andre, a simple peasant, had only one thing on his mind as he
crept along the East wall: ?"Andre creep... Andre creep... Andre creep."

??6) "Stanislaus Smedley, a man always on the cutting edge of
narcissism, was about to give his body and soul to a back alley sex
change ?surgeon to become the woman he loved."

??5) "Although Sarah had an abnormal fear of mice, it did not keep her
from eking out a living at a local pet store."

??4) "Stanley looked quite bored and somewhat detached, but then
    penguins often do."

??3) "Like an overripe beefsteak tomato rimmed with cottage cheese, the
corpulent remains of Santa Claus lay dead on the hotel floor."

??2) "Mike Hardware was the kind of private eye who didn't know the
meaning of the word "fear," a man who could laugh in the face of
danger and spit in the eye of death - in short, a moron with suicidal
    tendencies."

    ??AND THE WINNER IS...

??1) "The sun oozed over the horizon, shoved aside darkness, crept along
the greensward, and, with sickly fingers, pushed through the castle
window, revealing ?the pillaged princess, hand at throat, crown asunder,
gaping in frenzied horror at the sated, sodden amphibian lying beside
her, disbelieving the magnitude of the frog's deception, screaming
    madly, "You lied!"

Here's a little test my friend sent to me...

Hope you all do better than I did. wink

    ARE YOU THE WEAKEST LINK?

I am going to ask you three questions. And you have to answer them
instantly. You can't take your time you have to answer immediately. Okay?
Let's find just how clever you really are. Ready? GO!!!

    First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake second place. What
    position do you finish?

    Answer:
If you answer that you arrived first, then you are wrong! If you
    overtake
the second and you take his place, you arrive second!

To answer the next question don't take as much time as you took for the first question.

    Second Question:
If you overtake the last, then you arrive...?

    Answer:
If you answer that you arrived second to last, then you are wrong again.
Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST! The question is wrong!

You're not very good at this are you? ;^)

Next...very tricky math! Note: This riddle *must* be done in your head
only and NOT using paper and a pen. Try it.

    Third Question:
Take 1000 and add 40 to it.
    Now add another 1000.
    Now add 30.
    Another 1000.
    Now add 20.
    Now add another 1000.
    Now add 10.
    What is the total?

Did you get 5000? Well, the correct answer is actually 4100. Don't believe
it? Check with your calculator! The decimal sequence confuses our brain,
which always jumps to the highest decimals (100s instead of 10s).

That should have you in a bad mood for the rest of the day! You are the
    weakest link. Goodbye!

    ------------------
You... should... have... bought... a ... squirrel...
    *scream...... crash*
